07/03/10 Fund raising news - 10 dogs to go to UK for re homing!

Emma & Steve from Portsmouth, who recently adopted Roda, decided to put out an appeal to friends and family to try and get 8 dogs over to SOS in the UK, so that they could be rehomed. They felt they needed to do something as most of the dogs we want to rehome have been at Pepis for over a year. The appeal went so well that they have managed to get the funds for 10 dogs and have some money left over to start fundraising for the exercise area. With the help of CHAIN, the dogs will hopefull be in transit in the near future.
They plan to fundraise over the summer with car boots etc. so hopefully when there is no-one to walk the dogs they can still run around with freedom. Will keep you posted on how they are doing. If you are in the UK and would like to donate towards this project please email Emma on emmanicoll69@hotmail.com

With the help from the following people, we have managed to raise £870:-
Jan Tunnell, Pauline Bailey, Dom Jackson, Cathy Jupp, Brenda Burnett, Sally Cronin, Emma Walch, Annette White, Val Beck, Julia Connor, Jane Offer, Barbara Symons, Eileen Giles & Val Perryment.

24/02/10 Roda arrives in the UK!

As the web page designers and friends of Pepis, I cannot tell you how pleased Em & I were to finally get Roda back to the UK today. We have waited 8 months for today and are totally thrilled to have her at home with us. Within 2 hours of arriving at our home, she was down at the local park, mixing it up, off the lead with the local hounds! She has been through a long and cramped journey (3 days in a dog cage) to get here but we are determined to give the loving home she so desperately deserves. Click here to see pictures of Roda in her first 24 hours in the UK.

21/02/10 Pepis First UK Fund Raising Event

On Sunday 28th March Pepis will have its first fund raising activity held in the UK. We have kindly been donated by Nigel and Monique at he Chichester Cat & Rabbit Rescue a stall to highlight Pepis and the need for help. There will be a stall with info and general bric a brac as well as donation tins. The aim is to raise funds for specific projects at Pepis so we are truly excited to be able to go 'international'. More news to follow. The CCRC web page can be found here.

14/01/10 - Pepi’s receives much needed help to stop flooding.

Pepi’s has been badly hit by the very heavy rains that have fallen now for more than four weeks in Andalucia. The amount of rainfall has been exceptional and has caused significant flooding and a lot of damage in many areas.
At Pepi’s the main problem has been the flooding of the house where Alan and Jane have dogs too badly sick or injured to go into the kennels outside. Water and sewage poured into the house on several occasions leading to the ground floor having to be evacuated and the dogs moved to the first floor.
Two of the dogs, very badly injured galgos, with broken legs, one having a pin to hold his leg in place had to be moved. No easy task, particularly when there is no light, other than torches or candles, as the generator became waterlogged and gave up!
Pepi’s appealed for help and several people have kindly been able to respond. Some regular volunteers have braved the conditions to help clear mud from the outside kennels, Les, from ‘Pet-tags’ has donated some heavy duty pond water pumps and CHAIN have very kindly given some assistance with funding to enable a permanent solution to the problem of the house flooding. We will now be able to get a mini-digger and the necessary materials to divert the water away from the house. Some volunteers, who have building experience, from CHAIN, along with our own volunteers will undertake the work and, if it stops raining, we will complete the work soon.
Apart from the relief this will bring to Pepi’s it really does prove the value of the recently formed Andalucian Animal Welfare Network and demonstrates that people working together can find solutions to any kind of problem.
